Is it vegan?
How is it eco?
This food is made in Spain, which has lower food miles than some other vegan wet foods, for example Benevo Duo is made in America.
Vegan food is significantly less destructive to the planet and climate. "Moving from current diets to a diet that excludes animal products has transformative potential, reducing food’s land use by [...] 76% [...], including a 19% reduction in arable land; food’s GHG emissions by [...] 49% [...] ; acidification by 50% [...]; eutrophication by 49% [...]; and scarcity-weighted freshwater withdrawals by 19% [...] for a 2010 reference year." - J. Poore and T. Nemecek 2019 [download the article from here]
While most studies talk about human food, the impact of our dog or cat's carbon paw print is just as relevant. In some ways, pet food is quite efficient: many pet foods use "surplus" meat that would not be consumed by humans. However, it's still meat and so it's still part of the problem. Also, meat pet food contributes to the unnecessary suffering and destruction of farm animals, as well as to the climate catastrophe.
Ultimately, supporting vegan pet food manufacturers now is a positive step for the climate, for animals and producers, whatever the finer points of the argument.
